We are proud to present the third issue of Fafnir – Nordic Journal of Science Fiction and Fantasy Research in the year 2016!
The coming of winter can be felt from the issue, as there are two articles focusing on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series and a third article which discusses dragons in Martin’s novels (among others). Furthermore, the issue offers different angles to fantasy and an overview to the literary career of “Dragonlance-writer” Margaret Weis. We are also proud to present lectio praecursoria on the practices of speculative worldbuilding.
In addition to the articles, overview and lectio praecursoria, the issue includes a report on “The Promises of Monsters” conference held at the University of Stavanger 28–29 April, 2016 and two topical literary reviews.
Please do remember that Fafnir welcomes submissions of research articles, short overviews, academic book reviews, essays, opinion pieces and the like. The next issue, which focuses on speculative fiction in comics and graphic novels, is scheduled for December 2016.
In the meantime, brace yourselves for winter!
