We are proud to present the second issue of Fafnir – Nordic Journal of Science Fiction and Fantasy Research in the year 2016!
This issue focuses on texts that discuss the topical question of the relationship between technology and works of fiction – and the interconnections between the fantastic and science fictional through technology. Furthermore, the articles both offer new openings in the field of speculative fiction research in our journal (e.g., Indian science fiction) and continue the discussion on current issues (e.g., the representations of posthuman).
We are also proud to present a Finnish lectio praecursoria on the aesthetics of horror in children’s culture. In addition to this, the issue includes a book review of the aforementioned doctoral dissertation and a seminar report from the sixth national conference of fandom studies in Finland, “The rise of the nerd/geek culture”.
Please do remember that Fafnir welcomes submissions of research articles, short overviews, academic book reviews, essays, opinion pieces and the like. Right now, a call for papers is open for our issue 4/2016, “Speculative Fiction in Comics and Graphic Novels”.
The next issue is scheduled for September 2016. In the meantime, enjoy the summer!
