We are proud to present the first issue of Fafnir – Nordic Journal of Science Fiction and Fantasy Research in the year 2017! This issue includes two research articles, an interview with Professor and science fiction author James E. Gunn and one book review. With this issue, 1/2017, Fafnir has an honour to introduce to you our new editor Bodhisattva Chattopadhyay. Bodhi is SAMKUL Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Oslo. Fafnir – Nordic Journal of Science Fiction and Fantasy Research invites authors to submit papers for the upcoming edition 3/2017. Theme for the edition is ‘reception, audience/s and fandom studies’ (e.g. The World Hobbit Project). The theme issue has been moved from issue 2/2017 to issue 3/2017. We invite papers that focus on all aspects of the study of ‘audiences’ for cultural and media products and practices that are connected to speculative fiction. The First Issue of Fafnir’s Second Year is Now Out!

We are proud to present the first issue of Fafnir – Nordic Journal of Science Fiction and Fantasy Research in the year 2015! This first issue of Fafnir’s second year is multilingual and focuses mainly on the works of science fiction. We are happy to publish our first peer reviewed article in Finnish, discussing The Quantum Thief, the debut novel by Finnish writer Hannu Rajaniemi. The other article included in this issue uses the tools of posthumanism and posthumanist studies to discuss the changes in the world influenced by technology.
