Fafnir – Nordic Journal of Science Fiction and Fantasy Research welcomes various texts ranging from peer-reviewed research articles to short overviews, essays, interviews, opinion pieces and academic book reviews on any subject suited to the paper. The texts should focus on science fiction and fantasy literature, audiovisual art, games and fan culture. An interdisciplinary perspective into the research within these genres is encouraged.
The main language of the journal is English, but articles are also published in Finnish or in the Scandinavian languages. Please note that if English is not your first language, you should have your text reviewed or edited by an English language editor before submitting it for Fafnir.
Call for papers for each issue are usually published along with the issues of Fafnir (see the current issue). However, you can also submit a text proposal regardless of current call for papers. You can either submit a finished version of your text or an abstract (article, essay, overview etc.) or an informal proposal (e.g. interview, book review) for a text.
If you are interested in submitting an article or an essay, an interview, a book review etc. to Fafnir, please see our submission guidelines and follow them carefully.
All submissions should include a brief biographical statement about the author. This statement should include the author’s current institutional affiliations and contact information.
Send your submission to submissions(at)finfar.org as an email attachment. Please introduce the attached submission briefly in the accompanying email.
